Owner and Operator Rena Vatch opened 750ml as a wine shop in the fall of 1999. Rena’s passion for wine was developed during her living and traveling abroad for almost three years. “Wine is such a social event,” Vatch says of her experiences in London, England. ”It’s hard not to develop a love and a taste for wine, champagne and of course port when living in the UK.” Rena’s passion for travel and wine are what drove her to open 750ml as a retail shop, and finally to expand into a full wine bar and now a full service restaurant. Rena hails originally from Toronto but moved to Portland from Florida after running the family business for 5 years. With an increasing market for wine bars in Portland Vatch is confident that full service wine bars are the trend with consumers. Rena’s goal is to bring simple yet sophisticated food matched with an abundance of great wine choices together in a non-intimidating environment for the novice as well as the connoisseur, in new and imaginative combinations.
